Frequently Asked Questions

Is Love of Paws an animal adoption agency?  No, we prepare animals, primarily dogs, for adoption.  We ensure they’re microchipped, so clinics can identify an owner if they become lost.  We make sure they have their shots. We make sure they’re disease-free and don’t have fleas or other nasty critters.  We house them until they’re ready to go to a nonprofit adoption group.

Stray Animal Adoption Program (SAAP) – is a animal rescue nonprofit organization serving Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana where adoptive homes are found for puppies, dogs, kittens and cats.   SAAP has been a long-time partner of Love of Paws Inc in helping our animals find forever homes.

Why do you need foster families?  Love of Paws Inc is a volunteer driven nonprofit organization and does not have a physical shelter.  We relay solely on our volunteers to care for animals in need.  When you foster, you agree to take a dog in need into your home to give them love, care and attention until they’re ready for adoption.

Are foster animals contagious?  There is always a health risk to expose your animal to other animals, whether at an off-leash area, the veterinarian waiting room or other common areas.  If your pet is current on vaccinations, have a healthy diet/lifestyle, and they are not immune compromised, then the health risk should be minimal.

Will it cost me a lot of money for me to foster an animal?  No!  All supplies necessary to care for the animal will be provided by Love of Paws Inc.

Why should I foster a dog?  Fostering is one of the most rewarding experiences.  It allows the rescue to help more dogs in need, the dog receives the time it needs to be ready for adoption by being in a loving home environment.

Can I adopt my foster dog?  Love of Paws Inc and our foster volunteers only prepare dogs to be adopted – we ensure they have all their shots, microchipped and they are critter free.  If you want to adopt a pet, we encourage you to work with a reputable pet adoption agency.

I can’t foster an animal at my home, can I still help?  Yes!  You can donate supplies, money and your time.  We host events several times a month and always need help transporting animals.  Please complete a volunteer application and call us today!

Are my donations tax-deductible?  Yes, Love of Paws Inc is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization.  All supplies and monetary contributions are tax-deductible.
